Nassau Candy Acquires McClain’s Old Florida Gourmet
McClain’s Old Florida Gourmet, a specialty food and candy distributor based in Sarasota, Fla., has been purchased by Nassau Candy South, a newly formed division of Nassau Candy based in Hicksville, N.Y. McClain’s distributes more than 4,000 products from 75 suppliers throughout Florida. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
McClain co-owners Kelly Abercrombie and Taylor McClain Mock will remain on the executive team; they also own Citra Products of Florida, which produces fruit-eating kitchen utensils, and was not included in the sale.
“We believe there is significant opportunity to build upon the great products and customers that McClain’s has established both within our existing customers and new prospect customers,” said Andrew Reitman, president of Nassau Candy South.
McClain’s is the latest acquisition for Nassau, which has previously purchased Classic Snacks, Hobbs & Dobbs Novelty Candy Co., and AmuseMints. Nassau Candy offers more than 10,000 items and employs about 400 people in its manufacturing facility.
