Ikea Adds Gift Registry
Ikea U.S. has launched a gift registry that allows customers to create and fulfill wish lists for weddings, baby showers, housewarmings, back to college or any other gift-giving occasion.
Customers can add products from all areas of the store to their gift wish list.
“A gift registry has been on our customers’ wish list for years,” said Ashley Wahl, Ikea gift registry project leader and CRM specialist with Ikea U.S., based in Conshohocken, Pa. “…We’re thrilled to be able to now offer them this service and to play a small part in helping people celebrate special moments in each other’s lives.”
Customers can create a registry using the Ikea website, in-store kiosk or Ikea gift registry app that’s available for iOS and Android; text “Registry” to 62345 to receive link to download.
To use the registry service, customers must be part of the retailer’s free loyalty program, Ikea Family.
Four Ways to Buy
Shoppers can purchase items in-store or online. Via the Ikea Gift Registry site, users can “chip in” a desired dollar amount towards the total purchase price of the product, a great option for big-ticket items. Gift givers can virtually “buy” an item; the value is then applied to an Ikea Gift Card, as opposed to buying the physical product.
Since its 1943 founding in Sweden, Ikea has offered home furnishings of good design and function at low prices so the majority of people can afford them. There are currently more than 392 Ikea stores in 48 countries, including 43 in the United States.
