Educational seminars, industry social events and buyer promotions are all part of the value-added activities to be presented during the summer 2011 debut of The Gourmet Housewares Show at the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), to be held at New York City's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Highlights will include:

"The Fair Trade Kitchen" will be presented by The Gourmet Retailer on Tuesday, Aug. 16, from noon to 1 p.m. This session, which is part of the NYIGF SustainAbility program, will outline Fair Trade basics and address how retailers can benefit from buying and selling high-quality kitchen and table products with societal and cultural impact.

In celebration of The Gourmet Housewares Show's first co-location with NYIGF, GLM will host a "Manhattan Mixer" on Monday, Aug. 15, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Javits Center. Specialty "Big Apple-tinis" and other libations will be available for purchase.

Through an exclusive "Gourmet Giveaway" buyer promotion, retailers can register to win a package of products donated by The Gourmet Housewares Show exhibitors.

Market-goers also receive free 30-day access to Zagat Ratings & Reviews online, which features 30,000+ restaurants, attractions and accommodations in New York City.
