Food Fight! Opens 2nd Vegan Store
Food Fight!, a vegan grocery store, opened its second location in the Gateway neighborhood in Portland, Ore. Owners Emiko Badillo and Chad Miller share the building with Jet Black coffee shop, one of the first independent coffee shops in the neighborhood, according to local news reports.
Food Fight! got its start after the couple moved from New York City and had to shop multiple stores in order to find everything they needed for their vegan diet. The first store opened in 2003 and currently shares a building with other vegan retailers. The building has become known as the vegan mini-mall and is a tourist attraction.
The stores’ product line includes coconut bacon, nut cheeses, vegan haggis and caviar as well as meatless jerky and many other non-meat, non-dairy options.
“We try to make it seem less like self-flagellation, self-sacrifice and make it a bunch of fun food,” said Miller in the local news report.
