Cooks Corner Announces Store Closing
Cooks Corner, known as ”the nation's largest kitchen store,” is going out of business. Owner Pete Burback posted a YouTube video to his store’s website announcing the Green Bay, Wis.-based kitchenware store’s closing.
“It has been a rough couple of years with debt going up and sales staying flat or down,” said Burback in the video. “Before I get into a position where I can’t pay our creditors and our vendors, I want to make sure I can do that. Hopefully, I will come back with something else … my best customers will like.”
In the three-minute YouTube video, Burback thanked his customers and announced the Cooks Corner 25 percent off sale.
Cooks Corner, according to its website, claims to be ”the nation's largest kitchen store” measuring more than 25,000 square feet and stocked with 18,000 kitchenware products.
The store’s exact closing date was not disclosed.
Burback, who admits he loves retailing, hinted at a possible new venture in the industry. “Hopefully we will come back stronger and better one day,” he said.
